We will find answers in this well documented and enjoyable journey amongst traditional recipes of regional cuisine, through black and white images from the Archive of the Istituto Luce. A tasty trip between dishes, kitchens, testimonies and funny stories on celebrities from the world of entertainment and culture. The documentary aims to answer many questions, but rather than a sociological survey, it is intended to be a loving research, in black and white, of good life’s recipes. Filmography: WHEN ITALY ATE IN BLACK AND WHITE ,2014 Festivals and Awards: Berlinale 2015: Culinary Cinema ]]> Retrospective of a Country, Italy Sun, 30 Oct 2016 17:46:47 GMT http://old.irandocfest.ir/en/news/1793/when-italy-ate-in-black-and-white Stop the pounding heart http://old.irandocfest.ir/en/news/1792/stop-the-pounding-heart Director: Roberto Minervini Screenplay: Roberto Minervini Editor: Marie-Hélène Dozo Cinematographer: DIEGO ROMERO SUAREZ-LLANOS Producer: Pulpa Distribution/Sales: Doc & Film International, h.horner@docandfilm.com Synopsis: Sara is a young girl raised in a family of goat farmers. Her parents homeschool their twelve children, rigorously following the precepts of the Bible. Like her sisters, Sara is taught to be a devout woman, subservient to men while keeping her emotional and physical purity intact until marriage. When Sara meets Colby, a young amateur bull rider, she is thrown into crisis, questioning the only way of life she has ever known. In a stunning portrayal of contemporary America and the insular communities that dot its landscape, Stop the Pounding Heart is an exploration of adolescence, family and social values, gender roles, and religion in the rural American South. Filmography: The Other Side,2015 Stop the Pounding Heart,2013 Low Tide,2012 The Passage,2011 Festivals and Awards: Cannes Film Festival,2013 Film Fest Gent,2013 Venice Film Festival Toronto Film Festival ]]> Retrospective of a Country, Italy Sun, 30 Oct 2016 17:45:44 GMT http://old.irandocfest.ir/en/news/1792/stop-the-pounding-heart Fire at Sea http://old.irandocfest.ir/en/news/1791/fire-at-sea Director: Gianfranco Rosi Screenplay: Gianfranco Rosi Cinematographer: Gianfranco Rosi Editor: JACOPO QUADRI Producers: 21 uno film srl Stemal Entertainement, Istituto Luce, RAI CINEMA, ARTE CINEMA Distribution/Sales: Doc & Film International Synopsis: Samuele is 12 years old and lives on an island in the middle of the sea. They're not some hippie colony, just a group of people who have turned their backs on society and want to be left alone. On this bare, arid plain, we see a mobile home here and there, a car or an impromptu house. The people who live here answer to imaginative names like Bulletproof, Insane Wayne and Bus Kenny. They kill time by messing around, doing odd jobs, talking and living. For some of them, this desolate place with no electricity or running water is a temporary address, while for others it's a permanent vacation. A Vietnam veteran who now goes by the name of Cindy opened a hair salon here. Lili is a new arrival who lost custody of her only son and now does acupuncture. Mike Bright grieves over his dead daughter and fills his days writing songs. Everyone has his or her own reason for being here, and especially a reason not to be somewhere else. Filmography: 1993 - Boatman[5] 2001 - Afterwords[6] 2008 - Below Sea Level[7] 2010 - El Sicario, Room 164 2013 - Sacro GRA 2016 - Fire at Sea Festivals and Awards: IDFA2009 ]]> Retrospective of a Country, Italy Sun, 30 Oct 2016 17:37:52 GMT http://old.irandocfest.ir/en/news/1789/below-sea-level
